Mount Angel Abbey
Mt. Angel, Oregon
The Portland Preaching Retreat is a four-day retreat for teaching pastors in the Portland Metro Area. Designed to bless and serve local pastors, the Portland Preaching Retreat will host Tim Mackie as he teaches on the book of Exodus, going in-depth on ways this content can be preached in a sermon series. Pastors will leave inspired and refreshed, with new friends and an entire sermon series' worth of sermon outlines.
Featured Scholar: Tim Mackie is the co-founder of the Bible Project, currently serving as their Chief Education Officer and an adjunct professor at Western Seminary. Tim studied biblical studies and languages at Multnomah University and Western Seminary, and did his PhD in Hebrew and Jewish Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Tim’s greatest passion is to help people grasp the beautiful and compelling story of the ancient Scriptures and how they lead us to Jesus of Nazareth.
Details: Overnight or drive-in options are available, but participants are expected to commit to being present for the duration of the retreat (lunch Tuesday through lunch Friday). Drive-in participants should plan to be at the Abbey from 8:30 AM - 6 PM each day.
Background: The Preaching Retreat Framework was started more than 20 years ago by graduates of the Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary Doctorate of Ministry program, under Dr. Haddon Robinson. Since then, teaching pastors from around North America have gathered annually to learn from scholars from around the world. 2023 will be the first time a Preaching Retreat will be city-focused, specifically serving pastors of the Portland Metro Area.
A limited number of scholarships available. For information on a scholarship, please contact [email protected].
